Working on a few wave paintings and I hope one will work out for the Hope From Helen auction. Here are the charcoal studies. Im experimenting with a layered technique with the paintings, so right now they look like fire with red, orange and pink crazy colors.

Just started figure drawing from a live model again this past week. I'm a bit rusty but very motivated to keep going and improve. The last pose was a challenge- still might be hard to tell that she was laying on the edge of a platform but falling onto the pillow below it. It felt great to draw for a couple of hours, like figure drawing in college. I hung up the drawings in my loft studio. I'm feeling it more and more up there. In my element, listening to tunes escaping in the world of graphite, paint and other random creative material I get my hands on.

Quiet the mind by... - your concentration on breathing. -breathing and dreaming in light and color. - Set intention. Let the intention travel and drift to other parts inside you.

My intention: Desire for peace & calm. How does this make me feel? Together.. put together. Intwined, one thing going to the next smoothly emotionally. Why the colors? Contrasting- competing colorful coat of many color eclectic. How does this drawing make you feel? Happy. Bright colors. Full of opportuniity.

I did this sketch the other day... trying to get out and take the time to draw in breaks during the work day.... weather willing... I painted this one last night... I am working on "not the obvious" skin tone colors. I'm excited how it turned out.

Sperm Whale... May I correct myself... Still researching... Sperm Whales are not the largest of all whales... only the "toothed" whales.. according to http://cetus.ucsd.edu/voicesinthesea_org/Flash/ (a site I recently found.)

Working on a conceptual poster on saving whales against military sonar testing. The whales breed, hunt, live-- depending on sound and over the past decade have been disrupted by sonar testing, believed to cause the deaths of many.

This the Humpback whale: known for its large size and interestingly their "songs" are the longest organized sound, other than humans. ...some songs are 5 to 15 minutes long. ( Could go on "singing" for over 36 hrs- thats quite the concert)

The second is the famous Moby Dick whale- The sperm whale- the largest of the whale species and a fact about them: Their communication of "clicking" sounds- ( also used to hunt- in the same way as sonar waves use to detect) are the loudest sound made by any animal.

Still developing the concept- and enjoying the research!

Writing of dreams, goals, fears. I'm reading a wonderful book called Art & Fear. Its like therapy for the artist. It's about keeping with it, not quitting, like all of those things I was afraid I was feeling are completely normal for an artist to feel. Am I good enough? Do I have enough talent?, Will I ever finish all those pieces I haven't touched in months? Will people want them when I try and sell them? And then there's that big difference between quitting and stopping. Art is all about stopping. Getting a grip. Then it becomes about "going.." Putting it out there and forgetting to care what others think and losing yourselves in the process of creating art from within.

I sometimes draw rib cages and I am trying to figure out why? What does this symbolize to me? Some container of life perhaps, some light from the center of within? Where everything is felt perhaps, where everything loves, where everything hurts, where everything cries, laughs, screams and whispers. Where you grow. Where the untold story of your life is written. Engraved in the bone forever. Where everything begins and nothing ends until it is transported like magic into an everlasting shelter of peace held within the freedom of passion, thought, love, where feelings flow in and out and in between spaces too thick to cross alone. In between the lines of your thoughts and the music in your soul. Where the creative spark glows brighter with each day, the dreams are more clear, not so far away, love lasts here and it is known when its presence is among you.
